Quality Powder Coating president aboard crashed plane
Roland Shurrer, president of Carrollton-based Quality Powder Coating, was aboard a plane that crashed off the coast of Florida Wednesday afternoon, company officials said Thursday. Also on board was Steve Barrows, a pilot and marketing representative with the industrial powder coating company.
Mortgage rates fall a second week
For a second week in a row mortgage rates eased. Freddie Mac's weekly report says 30-year fixed-rate mortgages averaged 5.2 percent this week, down from last week's average of 5.32 percent. A year ago, 30-year mortgages were averaging 6.37 percent, although rates fell below 5 percent earlier this year.
